If you could permanently ban a word from general usage, which one would it be? Why?
Ban a word? another ban? No, thank you. I don’t like offensive words and I wouldn’t use them, as well I would like nobody would use them, but I think a ban on words would be useless. Moreover maybe would make some people use those words with more delight just because they’re banned.

Wanted to respond to you seeing as you “pinged” me. I thought the title of your blog interesting, but don’t you think the daily prompt was a kind of “tongue-in-cheek” prompt. I took it that way. I, too, would never want to see any words banned but I can’t say as much sometimes for the people who use them. 🙂
You’re right. Sure you noticed I am among the ones who liked your post about the “should” word. I found it very interesting, and I agree that the clue isn’t in the words but in the people who use them.
Whilst word prohibition might force the culprit word underground, SoundEagle agrees with Rebecca about the “tongue-in-cheek” nature of Daily Prompt.
On the subject of banning certain words, SoundEagle recently took issue with a particular W-word at http://soundeagle.wordpress.com/2013/06/24/use-with-caution-or-not-at-all/.
You’re Right. Just between you and me: Being English my forth language I didn’t feel entitled to ban a single word from general usage and argue so well as you do out of lack of knowledge. So I decided to express in my post my opinion against bans. I’m sure you’ll understand. By the way Your post is great. I learned a lot from it. Thank you. ¿Can I reblog it? I’ll definitely save a copy.
Of course, you may, Olga. Apart from reblogging the post, please feel free to leave your thoughts and comments at the post too. Thank you. 🙂
