For a moment today, time stands still — but you can tweak one thing while it’s stopped. What do you do?
My sister is taking care of my mom while I’m out. Mom cannot be alone any more. She needs us constantly. We are taking turns. I arrive home and say hello. I kiss mom and see how my sister is already picking her things to go out, worried. Her husband is waiting for her. She is running late.
Time stops. Everything froze. Complete silence. I look around and see my sister motionless with her handbag and her coat close to the door. Mom is also frozen with her mouth open because she was saying good bye to my sister. Apparently only I can move around. I look at them really scared. I approach my sister to help her because I’m afraid she can lost her balance. I touch her and she suddenly begins to move.
– What happened?
– I don’t know it seems time stopped
– What?
We check mom. She is still motionless. We look at the TV. Frozen. The clock. Frozen. We go out. The elevator is not working. Frozen. We are trapped in frozen time.
– This is a nightmare, she says. I have to go.
– But if the time is frozen, It’s frozen for everybody. Nobody is waiting for you, don’t worry. Let’s turn this nightmare in a dream
– What do you mean?
– How long since we two don’t talk to each other without worries? It’s our opportunity. I’ll bring some drinks and we can wait having a nice chat.
We talked and talked and laughed together like in the old times, and we enjoyed every frozen second of it until the spell o whatever it was what happened finished, time resumed and she really had to go. She kissed mom and this time she left rested and with a big smile.
