Let’s talk, no matter how

file0001152650686The language of the future: what will it be like? Write an experimental post using some imagined vocabulary — abbreviations, slang, new terms.

I’ll pass. I can’t even keep pace with today’s abbreviations, so I don’t feel like making predictions about how the language will be in the future. Call me a dinosaur, but I have to ask about the meaning of LoL and things like that. I can’t read a SMS or other text messages by my nephews and nieces without a translator.  For me it is like chinese. 我无法跟上今天的缩写,俚语,新词汇,所以我不知道该怎么写了一篇关于未来. (I hope the translator worked).

Seriously. I have no imagination for this. Languages change with society uses and I can’t preview how society will be a century from now. I hope will be respectful with the traditions and the richness of the language.

I know the language is alive and will evolve. I don’t know how will evolve the spoken language. I guess humans will always need words to organize and express their thinking. Even when it’s difficult to do so. I seriously hope people will continue to try to find the right words to express their ideas no matter how difficult they are, now and a hundred years from now, for the good of humanity. Better talk and try to understand each other than fight. We have too much wars and fights and too much need of serious talks to stop them no matter how the languages evolve.
