I have no imagination for the future. I live the present. This is my daily prompt and other challenges blog, so I guess a post three years in the future will depend on the WordPress challenge editors’ interests. I only hope my posts will be happier and my English better.

I had an interesting experience about time with my other blog named blognovic.com (about world news). Yesterday was its fifth birthday!. It was an opportunity to look back five years from now and I didn’t find big changes in the way I post except for the design of the blog and the activity, because now I’m posting often than before.

Here is my “birthday post” commenting about now and then:

“Since my first post about the US presidential campaign (the first one for Obama) to this day, hundreds of stories have found a place in this blog.

Comments, links, selected news about topics I considered interesting and I hope my readers and followers too. A lot have happened in all these years, but most of the key world players are the same. Of course, president W. Bush is gone, but Obama won the presidency becoming the first black president of the United States and reelected four years later. Putin, after a period as Prime Minister is president of Russia again, Angela Merkel remains in power in Germany.

The war in Iraq officially ended but the sectarian violence remains. The war in Afghanistan continues. We learned about what a drone attack can do in a counterterrorism war regardless borders. Osama bin Laden is dead. Killed in an US operation. The so-called Arab spring spread out through many countries with different outcomes: Libya, the crisis in Egypt unresolved, the start of a cruel war in Syria. The Israeli-Palestinian crisis continues…

We have seen wars and conflicts in Africa also unresolved. Big terrorist attacks around the globe like this last one in Kenya. Economic crisis in Europe. Big scandals like the leaks about the US and UK surveillance programs. Natural disasters. Immigrants flowing everywhere risking their lives looking for a better place to live.

But also there have been calls for peace and hope like the ones issued by Pope Benedict XVI and more recently Pope Francis.

I only hope there will be more positive news from now. I would like to write about wars ending, negotiations going on, peace talks instead of fights, humanitarian aid reaching those in need, human rights respected. Non violence. That would be the best satisfaction. Fill my blog with good news. That’s my dream.”
