Do you like being scared by books, films, and surprises? Describe the sensation of being scared, and why you love it — or don’t.

Fear is irrational and makes you do stupid things. I remember once a terrorist threatened me when I was a young journalist reporting about a police operation against his cell. Despite I knew he and his companions were behind bars, from that day I began to act as if someone was going after me, changing my daily routines, looking behind me and around me constantly looking for something suspicious… Stupid things. A car chased me in a road I avoided for years. I developed a deadly fear for elevators after a man tried to attack me in one and I escaped at the last second. I avoid a certain street in my own city were  a vandal tried to hit me while reporting, I can’t even listen the sounds of rockets and bombs in live news without a certain shock, and the list goes on and on…Stupid reactions.

As long as we are talking about little, stupid, comical things to scare me like a toy spider or something like that I’m OK, but not serious stuff. Real life scared me too much  too many times to enjoy being scared in fiction. I have too vivid memories being scared to death by people trying to hurt me or by dangerous situations I had to endure during my life. Enough is enough. If I can avoid being scared I do. I don’t like to remember. I don’t like to lose sleep hours frightened. I don’t like being paralysed by fear with my heart pounding, my breath shortening, my brain racing looking for an escape.

If you are the one scaring me you’ll be safe because as I already said, fear usually paralyses me before I react. Just tell me it’s a prank as soon as possible. Don’t let me there suffering too much time, please.

Daily Prompt: Fright Night.
