Eat, drink and be merry…for tomorrow we die. The world is ending tomorrow! Tell us about your last dinner — the food, your dining companions, the setting, the conversation.

“No one knows about that day or hour”, said the Lord. So what would we know about it?. So many apocalyptic announcements of the end of the world have passed and nothing happened.

If I had some knowledge I was going to die tomorrow the last of my worries would be the dinner. I would look for a priest to put my soul in peace with God and try to reunite my family around me to talk with them about our lives to be in peace with all of them. I would tell them how much I love them no matter what happened during our lives. I would like to reunite also some good friends. I would ask them to wait with me. They can have dinner in the meantime if they want. I would be in no mood for dinner. I would try to pray until the end. It would be a sad moment because saying good by to the people you love is hard. A frightful moment because going to the unknown is not easy. But if I manage to be in peace with my Lord it would be a sweet, full of hope moment also. There is nothing more sublime for the soul like Heaven, because I believe, as St Paul said, that “no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined the things that God has prepared for those who love him.”
