Share a time when you narrowly avoided disaster.
I was coming back from a nearby city by bus with my belongings in a duffel bag and a parcel. When the bus reached my stop I hung the bag over my shoulders, took the parcel with my hand and exited. But the driver didn’t see me well, and he closed the doors too soon, so my bag got inside blocked by the doors while I was outside trapped by the strip. The bus started. I was heading the wrong direction so when the bus began to move I had to run backwards. The strip began to press hard my throat. The bus began to gain speed. I realised that if I couldn’t keep running at the bus speed I was going to fell and suffocate. I held the strip with both hands in a desperate try to set me free, but no way. I was about to fall. It was the end. I lost my step. I fell. I closed my eyes.
I was lying on the ground, bruised, but breathing. Alive. The driver, alerted by the passengers, had opened the door at the last moment. He stopped the bus and came back running to check on me, scared. I had to calm him down. He couldn’t believe I was OK. Neither could I. But thanks God, the only thing I lost that awful day was my stupid parcel.
