What’s the one piece of advice you wish someone had given you a year (or five, or ten…) ago?
Slow down! Don’t rush. Take it easy.
I was spending too much time at my job, overwhelmed by stress, pretending everything was all right. But it wasn’t. I was exhausted. I couldn’t sleep properly. I couldn’t rest.
Journalism is an absorbent job. Wonderful, too. I love it. I had great experiences with it. But the reporter’s life has its problems. There are not timetables. You must be available at all times. Whenever the news happen you must be prepared for action. Then you have to deal with the deadlines. You have plenty of rush hours.
You have to learn how to manage your time and how to rest to persevere in the job for a long time.
I didn’t hit the brake when I noticed I had so much stress over me and my health suffered because of that.
