Worldly Encounters

The friendly, English-speaking extraterrestrial you run into outside your house is asking you to recommend the one book, movie, or song that explains what humans are all about. What do you pick?

If the extraterrestrial knows how to speak English, surely already has a knowledge about humans to understand there is no book movie or song that can depict humankind as a whole with all its misery and its goodness, with all its glory and its tragedy, with all its extraordinary events and its normal lives.

Even the Bible is not a single book but a compilation of books in which appears the most sublime and the most despicable of humankind. Thinking about it, the Bible could be my pick. Because I believe it contains also answers to the main questions about humankind.

As for a song I may be in a somber mood but I’ll pick the Requiem of Mozart, because it’s beautiful and expressive.

And to complete the suggestions I’ll pick my favourite movie “To kill a mockingbird” that also tells a story about all kind of human beings.

Worldly Encounters.
