A mad scientist friend offers you a chip that would allow you to know what the people you’re talking to are thinking. The catch: you can’t turn it off. Do you accept the chip?
I don’t think so. I have enough with my own thoughts. And I think we all have a right to privacy. I won’t like to play Big Brother. I would apply the principle of don’t do to others what you don’t want done to you.
Just to play along: I guess it would be useful if the person you are talking to is thinking on hurting you, so you can defend yourself or flee. It also could be useful in a trip to Vegas to play cards knowing what are thinking the other players. But that would be cheating, and if someone discover the chip, you are in trouble.
In any case, who wants to be able to read the mind of others always without interruption? Unbearable. What a headache! Since I don’t play cards, I have confidence in those I care about and I don’t care what are thinking about me people totally strange to me, no chip, thank you.
