Time for another Odd Trio prompt: write a post about any topic you want, in whatever form or genre, but make sure it features a slice of cake, a pair of flip-flops, and someone old and wise.

Today is not my day. I was going to serve tea with slices of cake to my husband and his important guests from his work. Just when I took the tray with all ready, my son came running into the kitchen very excited to show me his new pet he had found in the garden. He was wearing a t-shirt, shorts and flip-flops. He stumbled upon a tile and then crashed against me. We both fell down. The china, a wedding gift, broke in thousand pieces. The tea, the cake, all ruined. The guests waiting in the living room heard the noise. My husband, concerned, came to my help. My son, scared, was crying disconsolately. I had to pick up the pieces, clean up the mess, calm my son, make up something in a hurry for the guests, all in a record time. Some cold beverages did the trick.
When I finally sat down with the guests to do the honours, they already had talked extensively about the incident in the kitchen. Instead of leaving the subject aside, one of them, surely feeling enough old and wise to give me an advice told me: “the kid shouldn’t run in flip-flops.”
I wonder if he had kids
