My friend’s paintings

Our ten-minute free-write is back! Have no mercy on your keyboard as you give us your most unfiltered self (feel free to edit later, or just publish as-is).

Today I have visited  a watercolors exhibition. There were paintings by a friend of mine who suffers of a severe rheumatoid arthritis with important deformations in her joints. In spite of her illness and that she needs help to walk and move (she has a special vehicle for handicapped people), she travels and works a lot in her paintings. She has learned with great teachers and now can make a living with her paintings and teaching others in her study.

In this exhibition she displays sixty watercolors with a wide variety of themes. The best thing: she sells her paintings!.

I like a lot how she captures the water in her sea landscapes and her waterfalls and the variety of greens in her forests. I love her urban landscapes.

I know her since we were very young. I remember when her illness began, and when it became so serious she had to quit her job as a clerk in a big firm. It was a drama. She was devastated.

I admire her because she was able to overcome all that and her illness through her art. It was not easy. She put a lot of effort. Above all to move around being so sick. But her determination has been stronger than her pain and she has become a pretty known painter in our region.

Ready, Set, Done.

Sounds like a person I would really admire if I knew her in person. I think it’s her experience she gathers her strength from and thus she knows how to advice others. She knows it’s possible to deal with it, whatever it might be..
