When I was teaching at my University, one of my students sent her daddy with a note to tell me she could not attend my class because she was sick. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Where was I, In the University or in a primary school? She had nothing serious, and the poor man had to come from another city to justify her absentia. Naturally I said to him that the note was not necessary. I was not a monster, and her daughter should learn to explain things for herself. If she couldn’t affront such a small problem, what would happen with bigger problems in life?. She was already 20 years old!
I always tried to solve my own problems by myself. Maybe that was why my pupil’s action, recurring to her daddy, was so shocking to me.
