I hate lists

Who doesn’t love a list? So write one! Top five slices of pizza in your town, ten reasons disco will never die, the three secrets to happiness — go silly or go deep, just go list-y.

Since my childhood I hate lists. In school we were called by list in alphabetical order. I was the only pupil in my class with a non Spanish surname. It was difficult for some teachers to read and pronounce my name so when they arrived to me on the list they called me by the number. So everybody had a surname except me. I was “Number ten”.  I hated it. I wanted to be called by my name like the others.  Lists usually contain things I have to do or buy. Obligations. I don’t like them. I use them because they are helpful. But nothing more. I don’t make lists of wishes or likes. I’m rather chaotic. I know what I like and what I wish without recurring to a list. I can’t even make a list of reasons because I hate lists.

The Satisfaction of a List.
