It’s worth it

What’s the household task you most dislike doing? Why do you think that is — is it the task itself, or something more?

A new addition to my house equipment have made my life easier. A vacuum robot. I said goodbye to the old days of vacuuming. I just press a button and the robot does all the job by itself. I’m waiting for the day they’ll invent something automatic for the windows. I don’t like cleaning. I get tired too soon. But I love the results. I live in an old apartment in the old part of the city. All the buildings are pretty old. Some of them with several centuries of history. Stone and wood. Noble materials but difficult to keep up in good conditions. My home is relatively new for the neighbourhood, but we have a lot of wood, and a stone mantelpiece. Very traditional. Not very functional. It takes a lot of time to clean it properly.

We cannot make reforms because the landlord doesn’t want. But the flat is located in a privileged part of town and that is worth it. We are at walking distance of every possible public service we can need:  the post office, the City Hall, the local Government offices, the police, the health centre… even a sports centre with a swimming pool and a spa, and of course all kinds of stores, boutiques and supermarkets. We are in the historic centre of the city.  we have Gothic and Baroque churches  and palaces around us. On our streets we find every day pilgrims from all around the world walking the St. James Way with their huge backpacks, asking for directions. The street is always full of life. What else can we ask?

My son and his fiancée got themselves a robot vauum cleaner a few months ago and they love it. I don’t need one as I have only one carpet, the rest is stone tile flooring or wood. they love it. I have a similar system in the garden. We call it mowey and he does it all on his own on the lawn every day from 3 in the afternoon for half an hour. He does a perfect job. I like your stone fireplace.

I read about Mowey. It’s a great invention. My friends call our robot don Giovanni, because seduces all the women. The fireplace looks better in winter, with fire. Thank you for your comment.

Beautiful city, I would love to live there! Especially in an area with sports facilities. I really like the layout of your blog especially the top photograph.
