Pick a letter, any letter. Now, write a story, poem, or post in which every line starts with that letter.
Dear reader,
Delighted to have you with me
Don’t you get excited every time you receive a letter from a real person, not a company telling you how much you have to pay them or what they want to sell you?
Doctors are the only ones writing to me articulate sentences, but to tell me how sick I am.
Deliberately I ignore their warnings I hate.
Digital era brought us e-mails, SMS, WhatsApps, and left us without properly written letters.
Denouncing this is useless, they won’t write to me no matter what I say.
Dinosaur! will call me because of my preference for ancient post letters so slow and antique.
Despite all I prefer a good old letter, with a lot of thinking on it than a fast SMS.
Dozens times you can re-read each loving sentence and keep that priced piece of paper like a treasure all the time you want.
Don’t you enjoy the surprise every time a real letter shows up in your real mail box?
Depressing it is life without letters!
Desire for letters had the composer of this old song I remembered when I first saw today’s prompt:
I’m gonna sit right down
And write myself a letter,
And make believe it came from you.
I’m gonna write words oh, so sweet
They’re gonna knock me off of my feet,
A lot of kisses on the bottom,
I’ll be glad I got ’em.
I’m gonna smile and say,
“I hope you’re feeling better,”
And close with love, the way that you do.
I’m gonna sit right down
And write myself a letter,
And make believe it came from you.
I’m gonna sit right down
And write myself a letter,
And make believe that it came from you.
I’m gonna write words oh, so sweet, yeah!
Lotta kisses on the bottom,
I’ll be glad I got ’em.
I’m gonna smile and say,
“I hope you’re feeling better,”
And close with love, the way that you do.

I grew up with that song – Fats Waller was one of my dad’s favourites.
I’m glad you liked it and brought you good memories
