Have you ever tossed a coin or two into a fountain and made a wish? Did it come true?
I have. Long time ago In Rome at the Fontana di Trevi. I tossed a coin and I made the typical wish to return to the eternal city once again. I was there in a pilgrimage to see pope John Paul II and attend a beatification of a priest very dear to me. The wish came true ten years later when I traveled to Rome for the canonisation of the same priest, now a saint. That second time I didn’t tossed a coin at the fontana di Trevi. More than 20 years have passed and I never have traveled to Rome again. I guess the Fontana has nothing to do with it. My family circumstances prevent me from traveling now. I’m tied to my home. But circumstances may change and I would like to be back there with more time to see the wonders of the city. I hope I will fulfil my wish someday even without a tossed coin.

Your friend, the priest, became a saint?
I would like to learn more about him.
It was my father’s friend. I was only fourteen when he died. A Spanish priest named Josemaria Escriva who founded an institution named Opus Dei. I met him once and I was deeply impressed by his goodness. He taught that everybody could try to be close to God in the middle of the ordinary work or everyday family circumstances and even reach sainthood that way. For me was impressive to attend a beatification of a person I have met and much more see him later becoming a saint.
Amazing. His institution is world famous. Thank you for sharing this with us.
You’re welcome
