When you do something scary or stressful — bungee jumping, public speaking, etc. — do you prefer to be surrounded by friends or by strangers? Why?
I have been in a lot of scary and stressful situations in my life, but usually I had to face them by myself. No time or chance to choose an audience or look for support. It’s the reporter’s life. Things happen so fast you cannot plan in advance who would you like to have by your side when something turns out stressful or even violent. Usually you’re alone or with some colleague in the same difficult situation.
As for public speaking, I stopped long ago. And my experience is limited. When I used to give lectures I didn’t care about the audience as long as I was well prepared. But I don’t know why, I did prefer to be alone. Maybe it’s because I’m used to do things by myself. Maybe because I preferred at the end to hear at home a simple question about how was it.
I’ve never tried a risky experience just for the fun of it. I’m a quiet person. Too quiet and too old for bungee jumping. I love normal life.
