The Lord of the Rings

Take a look at your bookcase. If you had enough free time, which book would be the first one you’d like to reread? Why?

The Lord of the Rings. The complete trilogy.

I would like to immerse myself once more in that fantastic universe created by Tolkien. Go out of the harsh reality for a while and explore through the adventures of the hobbits, elves, dwarves, ents wizards and men, the emotions and ambitions present in humanity, good and evil, but knowing in advance that, at the end, goodness will prevail, and that when all seems lost, there is a way to defeat the violence and find peace.
A balsam for the spirit in times like ours.

Off the Shelf.

I have the audio version which is brilliant. I hope — maybe next winter? — to go live in middle earth for a while.

I read the series (I started with the Hobbit) last summer for the first time ever and have read it through twice now. I definitely agree… or would if I owned the books.

These are books I’m glad I bought and are part of my humble library. in fact I’m planning to read them again as soon as I finish the one I’m reading now. Every time I read them I find new aspects to enjoy. And the literary quality is superb

I have reread this a number of times (skimming over some of the longer descriptive parts) – love it! Great choice!

It’s a fantastic escape. If I hadn’t mislaid my copy, about 1/4 into the Fellowship of the Ring, I’d be reading it right now.
