Congrats! You’re the owner of a new time machine. The catch? It comes in two models, each traveling one way only: the past OR the future. Which do you choose, and why?
Again?
I won’t use the machine. I enjoy living the present moment. Above all if there is an only one way ticket without the possibility to come back from the past or the future. I think I would feel more curious about the future than about the past. We know a lot about the past. There are a lot of studies and researches.
As a woman, I don’t think past times were better in terms of civil rights and liberties for us. I would feel trapped, like in a prison if I would be forced to live in the past. I prefer to continue reading about those years and learning from past mistakes and achievements, instead of experiencing them for myself.
About the future, it would be interesting to know what big progress, if any, the humanity will achieve in science and other fields. But I doubt that humans will learn to live in peace which would be really worth it to enjoy. I would like to. But History tell us that there have always been wars. So, I wouldn’t like to travel to the future without the possibility to came back to my time. Who knows what could I find there? Better bad known than good to know.
I prefer to live my life undisturbed by time travel and try to make my battered world better.
I enjoyed your post. I was pondering the Daily Prompt and was thinking along your lines. I would afraid that I couldn’t get back to now. I am perfectly happy in the now. If you could come back, or be a fly on the wall is there any time or place that really calls to you?
Israel, during the life of Jesus Christ. Oh, How I would like to meet him!
