I ‘ll try to answer the questions formulated by the challenge Fandango’s Provocative Question.:
Do you feel that Donald Trump was justified in ordering a drone strike that resulted in the assassination of Qasem Soleimani, the commander of Iran’s elite Quds Force, in an airstrike in Baghdad last week?
Do you think Trump’s decision will lead America into a hot war with Iran?
Do you think Trump’s motives are political and self-serving?
I think Trump is following blindly what the Israelis want for the Middle East. From the beginning, when the war against Iraq was at stake, they said that the problem was Iran. And they have been insisting in their position all these years. Trump has recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s Capital and the legality of the settlers in Palestinian territories. Now, with this blow to Iran, which is a blunt provocation, pleases once more his allies the Israelis. But it was necessary? And why now? He has put in great danger his troops in the area, and the forces of his allies. The violence has already started.
I think this could be the beginning of a new war. And this is what our world doesn’t need in times of such instability as we live these days. Too many open fronts. And Mr. Putin happy in his particular fight to destabilize his contenders and grown his power in the world against the US and NATO.
I think war is the worst of the possible option. Is it this serving President Trump’s particular interests? I Don’t know. Maybe he needs something huge to distract the public opinion from his impeachment and gain adepts for his reelection. Maybe he depends too much on the Jewish lobby to keep his seat at the Oval Office. Perhaps his foreign policy is merely erratic and, because of that, hazardous.
I only can see that the assassination of that Irani general has fired a spiral of violence that, in my humble opinion, was unnecessary.
Thanks for participating. And I agree that Trump’s move was totally unnecessary. But people are talking about it and not the much impeachment. So there you go!
