The stress of the job of a journalist in a newspaper never ends. At least this is my experience of 26 years.
Most of the time, I was a reporter specialised in the investigation, trials, and criminal justice. My job could damage the good reputation of people involved in legal proceedings or get accused of crimes.
That is the reason I double-checked all the facts and searched multiple sources to get the information truthful.
I often had the plaintiffs and lawyers’ pressure who didn’t want to see the story published.
Then, in the newsroom, my boss wanted to comply with the deadline. He said I was too slow to complete my pieces because I was obsessed with checking the facts.
When I finished and put my signature in the information to pass it to the machines, it was time to go home. Usually, it was late at night.
But I couldn’t rest even then. Because I began pondering about the accuracy of my information and the repercussions will have the next morning when the people involved read the newspaper.
The new day always rise with new problems and so was my life.

Ah, how this type of journalistic spirit is needed today. Kudos on your integrity!
I was only doing my job. I see with sadness how these days some journalists forget about the fundamentals of their profession
Did you ever get it wrong? Unrelated, I meant to say, I follow a trivia quiz question each day and today she asks about (old) Spain – https://laborsettadelledonne.blog/2020/10/17/quiz-time-193/ Farida is an Italian blogger who, like you, speaks perfect English (and, presumably, perfect Italian 🤣)
I managed to survive all those years without have to write a single rectification. I visited the web with the quiz is really funny, and yes, the letter is F of frío Brrr! 🙂
As easy as that? My thinking was that initially, all taps dispensed cold, so there was no need to mark them. I miht have guessed F from the French.
I really don’t remember those taps. But frio is cold and caliente is hot. 😂
I must remember these, just in case!
