-Where is mommy? -asked Tim for the twentieth time to the lady who had waked him up that morning.
-Your dad will come soon and will tell you, said her
Tim had his nose glued to the window with views to St. Francis’ Square and was staring intently to catch the first glimpse of the figure of his father coming home, but none of the bypassers were remotely similar to him. Rob, his dog, was as usual at his side.
He was scared when that woman came that morning to his room instead of his mom. Rob had been barking at her. So he was awake when she entered his room. He had seen her before. Many times. At the next door. But she had never been in his home. And now she was acting like she was the queen. Mom and dad had never left him alone with a stranger before.
-You keep looking at the square because your father is about to arrive. And remember what I told you: take a good look at whether he takes off his hat or leaves it on, said the woman
-Why mommy is not coming with him?- asked Tim
-He will tell you
-He’s coming, he’s coming! !-exclaimed Tim jumping in excitement while rob began to bark, wagging his tail.
-And his hat? -asked the woman.
-On his head, -answered Tim
-Then you just have had a baby brother.
-Really?
-He told me that if the baby were a boy, he would come with his hat on, and if the baby were a girl, he would salute us with his hat off.
Tim didn’t listen to the explanation. Instead, he ran towards the door to meet his daddy while singing and dancing:
-I have a brother! I have a brother!

So sweet!
My dad used to announce us from the street with his hat if the new baby was a girl or a boy. It was really exciting. He had that kind of ideas that made our life joyful and funny.
Very cool! We had the same perception of the boy awaiting his mommy *smiles* I love the good, happy ending you have. It was a nice feeling!
Thank you! That picture arose some wonderful memories and great inspiration. I-m going to read your story
I tend to walk a little on the dark side lol
